Association of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the Prostaglandin-endoperoxide Synthase 2 (PTGS2) and Phospholipase A2 Group IIA (PLA2G2A) Genes with Susceptibility to Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

چکیده
For reasons that are not clear, the highest incidence of esophageal cancer, especially squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), is found in the developing countries, but geographical variation in ESCC incidence within these countries is very striking. The Taihangshan Mountain area, including Linxian in Henan Province, and Cixian, Shexian, Wuan city in Hebei Province, a rural area of China, has the highest incidence of esophageal cancer in the world (>100 per 100, 000 population) (Zhang et al., 2011). Overexpression of Phospholipase A2 Group IIA in Esophageal SCC and Association with COX-2 Expression
Esophageal cancer is a highly aggressive malignant disease with a 5-year survival rate of 10% to 15% (Ferri et al., 2012). The incidence of esophageal cancer varies greatly between populations and across geographic regions. The Taihangshan Mountain area, including Linxian in Henan Province, a rural area of China, has the highest incidence of esophageal cancer, especially squamous cell carcinoma...
متن کاملPrognostic Significance of MMP2 and MMP9 Functional Promoter Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Objective(s) Matrix metalloproteinases comprise a family of enzyme that is able to degrade components of extra cellular matrix. There are single nucleotide polymorphisms in the promoter regions of several genes with ability to influence cancer susceptibility. The aim of this study was to analyses association between MMP2 and MMP9 promoter polymorphisms and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma...
متن کاملCommon polymorphisms in the prostaglandin pathway genes and their association with breast cancer susceptibility and survival.
PURPOSE There is evidence that genetic variation in the prostaglandin pathway affects cancer susceptibility and progression. Conflicting data from several studies exist for the association of PTGS2 (cyclooxygenase 2) polymorphisms with breast cancer risk. We investigated associations between common germ-line variations in seven genes in the prostaglandin pathway and breast cancer susceptibility...
متن کاملThe roles of sPLA2-IIA (Pla2g2a) in cancer of the small and large intestine.
The mouse secretory phospholipase A2 group IIA (sPLA2-IIA) gene Pla2g2a has been identified as a susceptibility gene for cancer of the small and large intestine. Interestingly, unlike most previously identified tumor susceptibility genes, Pla2g2a does not behave like a classical oncogene or tumor suppressor gene. Hence, identification of its biological functions in tumor development may shed ne...
متن کاملHuman group IIA secretory phospholipase A2 induces neuronal cell death via apoptosis.
Expression of group IIA secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2-IIA) is documented in the cerebral cortex (CTX) after ischemia, suggesting that sPLA2-IIA is associated with neurodegeneration. However, how sPLA2-IIA is involved in the neurodegeneration remains obscure. To clarify the pathologic role of sPLA2-IIA, we examined its neurotoxicity in rats that had the middle cerebral artery occluded and in...
